Geochache with care

Tonight I saw on the news that someone was chaching in Fond du Lac county at a park and was seen with a strange itemand the police were called. Then a bomb squad. A plastic pipe with a piece of paper was being put in the park. JUST A CHACHE!!Since my son and his wife do this I called him. The people who checked it out said people should let park personal know when cacheing. When I called my son would you believe that they were cacheing. (Not in Fond du Lac).

Hi soup, I am not an expert. What it seems to be is a old fashion treasure hunt gone high tech. You check an area on line and your given a location where you can find a chache. It might be a piece of paper or a tiny plastic toy. I guess the joy is in the hunt. My daughter-in-law has found 200 in at least 2 different states. It isn't always easy to find because it is usually in wooded area and definately not in plain sight. Latitude and longitude are not enough information for me to go outand look.
It was good to hear from you. Joyce

Sarah, with the bombs blowing up people I guess you can't blame people. Last year at this time I took a trip by train and a suit case was left for a few minutes by someone in the station. The law was called and that suitcase was picked up and taken away. That was one shocked lady when she looked for her bag. (not me) Standing in line with suitcases to use the rest room is a pain-even using it is worse. Hurting yourself or innocent people just doesn't make sense to me. What does that prove?
Have a great peaceful day.

geocaching.com has a lot of answers. =) It is a high tech hide and seek game. The only required tool (besides a pen to sign a log) is a GPS. Some people do it without the GPS, but I'm not sure how. It's similar to letterboxing if you have heard of that one.

Yes, here in England we've had that fear for years what with all the troubles with the IRA. Manchester, our nearest city, was blown up in 1996 by a bomb in a van. So unattended packages have always been viewed with suspicion over here. Things have quietened down with the IRA, but now threats are coming from other quarters now. I guess the people who do these things think that the hoped for 'end' justifies the means. It is very sad, but I think many of those that do these horrible things have been brain-washed.

Oh goodness, that's funny, but I guess it could look quite suspicious!
