Visit to doctor

To put it mildly the visit did not go well. The doctor and I got along fine and he understood why I quit the one pill at least.
My blood pressure was off the wall. It was over 220. When the nurse took it when I first arrived it was 196/78.
I told him that it will be down after I am done at laundramat. I went to WalMart and it had gone down to 159. When I got home it was down to 144. I think different car caused it to be elevated. I can stay with the pills I am taking now but the one that didn't cause the problem he wants me to go back on. Such fun and games.

Oh ((Joyce)), it is so frustrating when our bodies won't cooperate with us! Hoping the mildest of medicines will bring things inline. (I also found that my blood pressure tended to elevate in the doctor's office just from sheer dread of the coming lecture!). So glad it lowered as the day went on. (And your bottom number actually looked quite healthy.)

I'll just comment here on your car. New is lovely and fancy is wonderful. We had new thrice and fancy once! Or should I say -- *I* had fancy once. I gave it up gladly. Practical and working for two won out over new and fancy for one - lol!

I was recently entertaining the children by describing the car Hubby and I had when we got married. Big and old would best describe it, with a carpet covered dashboard (handiwork of my husband after the Nevada sun cracked the dashboard)! You are quite right - getting from point A to point B is -- well -- the POINT of the matter. :o)

Do take care! Blessings ~

220, yuuh. That is what I reached more than 25 years ago when drafted. They sent me home. Later I went to the authority for volunteers and they finally sent me home. I was diagnosed with something wrong in the metabolism that caused this high pressure. At this time i was a fit young man ... But since then I love beta-bloggers.

May I ask what a laundramat is? Do you measure blood-pressure at Wal-Mart?
By the way "Wal-Mart" is no longer here in this city and in Germany at all, it is called "Real" now. People like me, who live more than 20 years in this part of the "city" call the shopping-centre in question still "Continent". That was the chain's name back then, colour was green. Wal-Mart, colour blue. Now "Real", colour red. Always the same building, even the same people, partly.

Bye.
And a good day to you as well!

Jodie,
Thank you for your comments. Today my blood pressure was 130/60. I guess I was afraid what the doctor would say.
My car is transportation at a price I can afford. Its amazing what we are willing to drive. I once had a push button Dodge. I also had a Chev. chevette-I called it a shove it.
Blessing to you and yours.
Mago,
Laundramat is where I go to do my wash.
WalMart and most other stores have machine to check your Blood pressure. I wanted to check it before I started home. Things change but stay the same. The building's color can change but if the service remains color doesn't matter.
I remember very little German. My maternal grandparents spoke German. They came to the United States early 1900's. They came over from
Russia. Grandpa funeral card says Norgka and Grandma's saysNorkya and my aunt's saysNorka.
So I don't know which is right.
Isee you recognized my German. Have a great day with God's Blessings on you

Hm, I do not know a place with the name Nor(g)k(y)a and was not able to find one. Can you reproduce it? Like take a photograph and put it on your site? It is the place of birth I guess. Russian borders in the east of Europe changed sometimes, so an area can be Russian, Polish, belong to Austriche or be German. Of course the names of towns changed too.

Lol we had a Chevette as a child here in England and we called it a Shove-it! That's just too funny.

I have blood pressure issues at the doctors too and pulse rate. Mine tends to be low and I go telling them I'm dizzy and my blood pressures low and they take it and it's normal because the trip to the doctors has raised it because I'm stressed. White Coat Syndrome it's called here in the UK - that's what the docs call it.

Praying for you Joyce.

Hugs.

Norka was a german settlememnt or colony at the Wolga. Founded August 1757 by (957) mostly hessian settlers. It was a success and became a rich colony. It is south of Saratov, the main city of the area that also has the name Saratov. In the end of the 19th century (1887) the relatively freedom of the settlements was to be ended, the should be russified. Many settlers choose not to give up german language and identity and emigrated to the US, Canada, Southern America.
Library of Congress should have something about that. I found that 1920 more than 100.000 "german russians" were in northern america.
So what you saied about your grandparents fits in this pattern. It is very probable that your antecessors started their journey somewhere in Hassia 1757, 250 years ago!
